Can One Have “Equality” Without “Dignity"?
“In places like Kwajalein, degradation could be as lethal as a bullet”
The need of “dignity” is set out by Laura Hillenbrand in her book Unbroken. The book tells of Louis Zamperinis, a WW II aviator who survived being stranded at sea for 40 days and also being a captive for years in Japanese prison camps. The difference between the two was that “dignity” was taken from prisoners by their captors in the prison camps.
“On Kwajalein, Louie …learned a dark truth known to the doomed in Hitler’s death camps, the Slaves of the American South, and … other generations of betrayed people. Dignity is as essential to human life as water, food, and oxygen…The loss of it can carry a man off as surely as thirst, hunger, exposure, and asphyxiation, and with greater cruelty.”
“In places like Kwajalein, degradation could be as lethal as a bullet”
Can you have “dignity” if you are Subject to degradation by your Government?
Americans of African Descent are no longer dependent on the White Slave Owner. Many of those who are in the lower income segment are now dependent on the Politicians and the Govt. for their survival. The Politicians say vote for me because I supported and am still supporting programs that are helping you regain your “Equality.”
The Politicians have set up a system that guarantees that the members of the Lower Income Segment of our Society, are forced to accept the Politician’s concept of “equality” which is without the “dignity” component. Do some politicians want to keep the lower income Americans of African Descent dependent on their government for those benefits?
Is this the degradation that is as lethal as a bullet?
You do not help a person by working to keep them dependent on you.
You help a Person by working to make them more dependent on themselves.
