Then and Now: 2012 #2
Would Anyone Say Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. Agreed with Margaret Sanger and Planned Parenthood on Abortion and Infanticide?
1939 Margaret Sanger stated in a letter to Dr. Gamble “…We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, …the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”
No leader of Americans of African Descent or Political Leader would want to be associated with Ms. Sanger after they became aware of her “Negro Project” plans.
There is one exception: President Barack H. Obama.
In early 2007, Pres. Obama had been under political attack because, as a State Sen. in Illinois he supported Planned Parenthood, Abortions and Infanticide. In a speech on 7/17/07 Pres. Obama tried to rehabilitate himself by misrepresenting the meaning of what Dr. King had said.
First Pres. Obama quoted out of context what Dr. King had said: “In 1966, the Planned Parenthood … gave its first Margaret Sanger Award to Martin Luther King, Jr. In his acceptance speech …Dr. King wrote, ‘Our sure beginning in the struggle for equality by non-violent, direct action may not have been so resolute without the tradition established by Ms. Sanger and people like her.’
Pres. Obama then made his own following statement: “…the struggle for equality is not over and now we are at one of those rare moments where we can actually transform our politics in a fundamental way. But it is going to take people as resolute as Margaret Sanger and Dr. King…”
When Dr. King accepted the award in 1966, Planned Parenthood did not support abortions; abortions were not legal until 1974. Ms. Sanger’s record on “Eugenics” and the “Negro Project” was not publically known in 1966. In 2007 Pres. Obama placed Dr. King on the same moral level as himself, Ms. Sanger and Planned Parenthood, which had performed over 250,000 abortions in that year.
The truth is set out in Dr. King’s letter from the Birmingham Jail in 1963, Dr. King stated it was evil to allow a baby who was born alive to be put to death or be neglected and allowed to die.
